A scar is new skin that has grown over a cut, wound or burn after it has healed. Scars are a natural process of healing skin. All scars are not created equal. Some scars are more severe than others and can only be minimized to be less visible. Minor cuts and scrapes are much easier to heal and treat.

How you take care of the wound initially will determine if it will leave a scar. Make sure you clean the wound and cover it to avoid infection. Keep scars out of sunlight. UV rays causes inflammation and prevents the forming of new collagen.
Here are some natural remedies to help treat and prevent scars.
Lavender Essential Oil - Research suggest that lavender essential oil aids in healing and cell regeneration. Lavender essential oil also has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties which can also be beneficial to help aid in cuts, wounds, scrapes and burns. Mix 3 drops of lavender essential oil with 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and apply to wound three times a day.
Coconut Oil - Coconut oil stimulates production and replacement of new collagen. Apply three times a day directly to wound. Coconut oil can be used by itself or use it with lavender essential oil to reap more benefits.
Aloe Vera Gel - Aloe Vera gel reduces inflammation and stimulates collagen production. Apply the gel to the affected area three times a day.
